Network Security

Use the Port Scan utility to help identify security holes on other computers. As you can see, we have quite a few open ports on this particular computer. You can now verify which of these ports that you really need open, and re-configure that computer's firewall accordingly.

You can also use Port Scan if you're having trouble with connecting to another host. It could be that you'll need to open another port.

Use Lookup to find information about either other hosts on your local network. . .

. . . or about ones that are on the Internet.

Note: You can also use hostnames for performing lookups on your local network, as long as either DNS is enabled for your network, or you have the proper entries in your hosts file.

Use finger to try to find information about a particular user. (This doesn't work that well, though. You're better off using finger from the command-line.)
