Server Training - Nagios

The web interface that you can access with Nagios provides you a visual review of the Cisco router status.  In this example of a Cisco router Ping is used to determine packet loss, the port status is monitored to determine if it is up, the traffic load on that port is monitored, uptime is verified and the Ethernet interface is monitored.  This provides a good review of the information  you need.

You can also use Nagios to connect to MRTG so that you can graph the traffic on your Cisco router ports.  This will be the subject of a new course but here is a sample of the output.
