You'll likely find most of the Vector Linux default applications quite useful. Here's a look at some usage scenarious for applications installed right out of the box on Vector Linux.

Inkscape

Inkscape is a program that behaves like and offers many of the same features as Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X. An open Source vector graphics editor, Inkscape uses the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format. Inkscape makes it easy to create basics shapes, paths, text, markers, clones, use alpha blending, transforms, gradients, grouping and more.

The simple interface of gtkam allows users to import photos, and videos onto the Vector Linux desktop.

K3B

K3b works as multiple applications in one. burning CDs and DVDs, ISO, and data CDs but it can also clone CDs and uses eMovix to create bootable multimedia CDs. To match its excellent features K3b also has an intuitive interface consisting of four panels simple panels which include Audio CD Project, Data CD Project, Data DVD Project, and Copy CD.

VLC

VLC is an extremely useful multimedia player capable of reading most audio and video format including s MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, DivX, MPEG-1, mp3, ogg, and more. VLC can also read DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.

This webcam application will allow you to plug in most webcams, start the application and choose from a good lsit of preferences and features.

Pidgin

Pidgin works together with online messaging software like AIM, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, Google Talk, Groupwise, ICQ, IRC,MSN, MyspaceIM,yahoo and more. Pidgin Internet Messenger takes the idea that you may have friends on different networks and gives us access to all of these at the same time.

Scribus

Desktop Publishing is different from word processing in that in word processing you are primarily writing text and inserting pictures to support the text. Images in a word processor may float out of position and you will find difficulties adding advanced features in page design. Scribus makes page design a breeze.
