Scribus Short Course

Desktop Publishing is different from word processing in that in word processing you are primarily writing text and inserting pictures to support the text. Images in a word processor may float out of position and you will find difficulties adding advanced features in page design. Desktop Publishing is designed to provide accurate placement of text, images, and design features that a word processor cannot perform. In short, word processors create text documents while Desktop Publishing creates fliers, brochures, newsletters, posters and yearbook layout pages.
