Install Ubuntu-Tweak 0.5.0 Two Ways

The desktop customization tool, Ubuntu-Tweak, brings GUI controls to many desktop and system options that the default desktop environment doesn't provide. This is exciting for Linux newbies because it centralizes everything into one easy-to-use interface. With the release of Ubuntu-Tweak 0.5.0, its new interface and continually growing number of customization options and features, I decided it was time put an easy how-to up describing the installation of Ubuntu -Tweak. You can install Ubuntu -Tweak two different ways, both are shown here in this tutorial and video for Ubuntu newbies.

Installing Ubuntu-Tweak 0.5.0

Before installing you should know that these instructions are strictly for Ubuntu 9.10. Ubuntu-Tweak support for Ubuntu 9.04 has been pulled.

Install Ubuntu-Tweak from the command line

Open the Ubuntu, Applications --- Accessories --- Terminal and typing these commands.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tualatrix/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-tweak

Install Ubuntu-Tweak with .deb file

If you're not so fond of the command line you can download the .deb file and open it with the package manager.
