Change Backgrounds

Ubuntu's default caramel-colored background is taking more and more critisism as users logn for something more mainstream and something with color. If you feel the default Ubuntu background is not for you, and may want to change it to suit your own taste. That's easy enough to do. A cool thing about this, is that if there are more than one user on a given computer, each user can have his or her own background.

Start by opening the Desktop Background utility from either the System/Preferences menu, or from the pop-up menu that you see when you right-click on the desktop.

You can choose to have either a solid color background with no wallpaper, or choose one of the two official Ubuntu backgrounds.

But, what if you don't like any of these background choices? Then, open Firefox, and search for something else. Save the background image in a location, like Documents.

Click on the filename of your wallpaper, and then click on the Open button.

Another way to add a Background is to find an image, one that is not copyrighted, and right click to make it the Background.
