Well I just got myself a Linux server running Centos. I run a couple of sites with VBulletin forums and a few more with wordpress installations. My limited experience of servers have been of the windows flavour. But Everyone has told me to dump Windows and my server will be better and my forums and blogs faster, so that is what I have done. But I'm in at the deep end. I know zilch about Linux and now I am pretty scared.
The basic server spec is a 2.66GHz 4MB Cache Intel Core 2 Duo processor - 3GB RAM - 500 GB primary hard disk drive - 500 GB secondary hard disk drive
BUT WOW; what a shock to have a blank screen and a flashing curser
My Linux server is live now, my sites are still on the Windows server but notice has been given so
I have exactly one month to learn enough about Centos and port the sites across to the new Linux server.
I think I might be a frequent visitor here.

Thee first thing you want to do in terms of learning Linux is to develop a training server. You need to get practice before you go live. Here is a link to an article I wrote on 3 different ways to create virtual servers.

The second thing you need to do is learn Linux from the command line because you need to understand the file system and how to execute commands. Here is a link to our bash course.

Note that the course provides you with skills on learning a text editor which will be needed. Feel free to post your questions about CentOS in the CentOS section of the forum....welcome.

Not sure why you are getting the problem, log out and log back in to see if that helps.
