Active Brush, Active Pattern, and Active Gradient Box

 

The Brush, Pattern, and Gradient Box, which is located at the bottom right hand side of the Gimp Tool box, allows a user to set Brush Size and Shape, Pattern display, and Gradient Type.

The Brush button is located at the top left hand side of the box. The Pattern button is located at the top right hand side of the box and the Active Gradient button is located on the bottom of the box.

Click the Brush Button, located on the top left of the box to change the brush type. Once the Brush Button is clicked, the Brushes Dialog Box automatically appears.

From this point users are able to pick between any of the available brushes that the Gimp program offers. Notice here, the biggest fuzzy brush in the list has been chosen.



Once the brush type has changed, the display of the brush in the Brush, Pattern, and Gradient Box automatically changes. This is important because now the user will be able to view the type of brush that is active.

Click the Pattern Button, located on the top right of the box to change the pattern type. Once the Pattern Button is clicked, the Pattern Dialog Box automatically appears.

From this point you are able to pick between any of the available Patterns that the Gimp program offers you. Notice here, the middle blue Pattern is selected in the list. Once the Pattern type is changed, the display of the Pattern in the Brush, Pattern, and Gradient Box automatically changes. This is important because now the user is always able to view the type of pattern that is active.

Click the Gradient Button, located on the bottom of the box to change the Gradient type. After choosing the Gradient Button, the Gradient Dialog Box automatically appears.

From this point choices can be made to pick between any of the available Gradients that the Gimp program offers. Cold Steel Gradient is chosen in the list.

Once the Gradient type has changed, the display of the Gradient in the Brush, Pattern, and Gradient Box automatically changes. Now the user may always be able to view the type of Gradient that is active.

With the Brushes and the Gradients Dialog Boxes, you have options on the bottom to edit, create a new one, duplicate, delete, or refresh.



With the Pattern Dialog Box there is the option to Delete or to Refresh.
