gOS Gadgets version 3.0 is out and available for download.  Based on Ubuntu, gOS Gadgets provides a unique spin off that could be useful especially for netBook and netTops which is what gOS gadgets seems to be geared towards. gOS lets you use the provided gadgets, code your own or install 3rd party gadgets on your desktop. The new gOS brings users the choice of over 100,000 iGoogle and Google Gadgets after loading the desktop with some of the more popular on startup.
All Gadget has a few things in common. Gadgets can be re-sized and include a small, gray three button bar in the top right corner that provide easy access to removing, expanding, and changing the menu options for each gadget. Options appearing on the menu vary from gadget to gadget but most include collapse-expand, zoom, always on top, about and remove. By default the gadgets at my resolution appeared scattered all over the desktop but i was able to drag and drop them all into place in about 10 seconds.

Have a Windows program you just can't live with out? That's okay because gOs Gadgets version 3.0 includes Wine. Working as a compatibility layer for windows programs, Wine is an open source implementation of the Windows API. Wine allows advanced users to run Windows based programs right on the Linux desktop.

Prism is a new feature from Mozilla that is offered on gOS Gadgets. It works by splitting web applications like YouTube, Google Mail, Google Calendar, Google Documents, and displaying them directly on the gOS Gadgets desktop.

As expected the OpenOffice Suite which includes Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Base, and Math,  is included in gOS Gadgets version 3.0. OpenOffice is the best choice for office productivity software especially with new features coming out for OpenOffice 3.0 at the end of the month.

Another powerhouse application included in gOS Gadgets is Firefox 3.0 web browser. Firefox 3.0 offers cutting edge web browsing features, stability, and security unmatched by any other browser around today. In addition to important back-end enhancements like the implementation of Gecko 1.9, an updated layout engine, Firefox version 3.0 offers a wide array of quality user friendly enhancements such as once-click bookmarking, instant website ID, performance improvements, full zoom capabilities, improved password manager, a smart location bar, and more.
