nano Color
Linux Commands - Shells

nano can illustrate color highlighting for different programing options.

Lesson 3 | Lesson 5

There are several options you can add to your nano editor located in the /usr/share/nano directory.  Here you can see a list of the options.

asm.nanorc    html.nanorc  mutt.nanorc    perl.nanorc    sh.nanorc
c.nanorc      java.nanorc  nanorc.nanorc  python.nanorc  tex.nanorc
groff.nanorc  man.nanorc   patch.nanorc   ruby.nanorc

Go to your home directory and create a hidden file,  .nanorc  and on separate lines add the options you would like to use with nano.  Here is an example.

include "/usr/share/nano/html.nanorc"
include "/usr/share/nano/sh.nanorc"

Now when you edit html pages for example the color options will be in effect.
