Nagios Monitoring
The Nagios Server Monitoring course provides students with hands on set up and configuration of a Nagios Server. Each student will be provided access to a server to set up Nagios and test settings. The class is a 4 0r 6 week class with instructor access during that time and scheduled meetings between the student and instructor once a week for demonstrations and questions by the student.

Printed Documentation Each student receives a Lab Manual that has step-by-step information for learning and Labs for assessment. These are lay flat bindings so you can work from the manual while on a server.
Help for Difficult Questions Live training provides immediate answers to difficult questions and immediate feedback.
Flexible Class Time The instructor time is set up to allow complete flexibility with each student schedule and pace.
Instructor Access Students will have weekly sessions with a qualified instructor to discuss questions and view demonstrations by the instructor on topics of the student's choice.
Live Voice Discussion All students can hear and speak to the instructor. No phone is necessary. Your phone line is kept open. A voice server will be used so that voice service is free.
View Instructor DemonstrationsStudents may view a number of multimedia presentations and demonstrations from the instructor's desktop. Linux Training sessions provide the same learning opportunities as a physical classroom setting. Linux demonstrations are live interactive with the instructor and provide the opportunity to ask questions.
Linux Training Server to Learn on Each student will be provided a real Linux server to work on during the class. This provides students with real skill development as they work through the class. Students will also be shown how to use VMWare Player and install a virtual machine.
Interactive Labs Students will have labs to complete to develop Linux administration skills. These labs are step-by-step in completing the necessary tasks to become a Nagios Administrator.
Unlimited Email Support Students will have unlimited email support during the 4 weeks so they can ask questions of the instructor.

Learn How to Monitor: Linux Server, Windows Servers, Printers, Routers, Switches, with Active and Passive Checks
Monitor Network Services Monitor services that you run on your servers like SMTP, POP3, HTTP, etc.
Monitor Host Resources Nagios will allow you to monitor processor load, disk and memory usage, running processes, log files, etc.
Monitor Environmental Factors You will be able to monitor temperature changes and problems with Nagios.
Develop Plugins Create or modify plugins that so that you can monitor all aspects that you need.
Define Host Status Create a recognition of down and unreachable servers to eliminate false positives.
Contact Notifications Contact support with email or pager when service or host problems occur.
Implement Redundant and Distributed Monitoring External command interface that allows on-the-fly modifications to be made to the monitoring and notification behavior through the use of event handlers, the web interface, and third-party applications. This includes NSCA and passive monitoring.
Schedule Downtime for Limiting Notifications During planned outages you can schedule in that time.
Access Web Interface The web interface provides a summary of status and issues on each server.
