So I tried to compile Bind 7.0 and ran into errors that I am working on right now. As I noticed that 7.0 has bugs I am now moving to 7.0.1 to make my major efforts with.

I also noticed that some versions of make throw errors, are you using gmake or make? I see gmake is the preferred one.

OK I installed the new version of bind 9.7-P1 and was able to configure it without using openssl. When I used openssl I kept getting the errors that are reported from the bug files on Ubuntu....so at least I know it can be compiled on Ubuntu 9.10 ....the server version.

Over the next week or so we will be rolling out a series on setting up DNS 9.7 on Ubuntu 10.04...here is the first one the second on on zone files will be out by mid-week.

Thanks mike Please try to get a compile tut on ubuntu 9.70 or upper just to get the knowledge about compiling things on ubuntu

Hi joe any step by step how to install the bind and configure any of them will get me started i try to compile but no success so moving on just install it from the repository now any help to configure it please thanks ...joe wait for your reply
