I plan to teach OpenOffice to about twenty people in an upcoming adult-ed class at the local highscool. Any recommendations for hardcopy materials I can point them to or even use in class? I want something we can work through not just read..

We sell a 200 page OpenOffice manual that would work for that.

I would say that the most important aspect of any class, is to provide your students with projects that they can accomplish. For example, create a Christmas Card using Writer. Or how to create a business card. Practical projects are what adults love. They are not interested in the fine details, they would not be coming to the class if they can learn it on their own, they want to have a finished product when they are done. OpenOffice provides many options for building projects.

One basic skill that will make the class happy....bring pictures that they have and insert those into a page to create a flyer, poster, brochure, etc.
