Network Configuration

Of course the first order of business when a machine is so connected to Internet applications is that you must verify that you have a working network connection first. Left click on this icon and then right click on the icon that appears so you can edit the networkgOS Networking configuration that you see below. It will be set to DHCP, or to automatically assign an IP Address, so you will need to change that if you will be using a static IP Address. Go ahead and change your IP Address, subnet and be sure to enter your gateway. The gateway represents how you will get to the Internet.

Here is the configuration for the network interface. You must have root access in order to make changes.

Be sure to select General and configure a DNS server. Use the one that your ISP suggests as it will be the quickest.
