In our small company we have 6 production Ubuntu servers in use as file servers and for backups. Performance has been near flawless. Based on this good result we plan to deploy additional Ubuntu servers.

True!
I'm using some Ubuntu servers ... but despite enthusiasm I gotta be honest and say I'm having a lot of problems.
All the problems are because great names are not certifying Ubuntu, or more easily not using deb but just rpm and mostly for 32bit platforms (SLES and RHEL). So, trying to get a java (java shouldn't be mutiplatform?? :-D ) program like IBM FastT Storage manager client 10 running under ubuntu x64 is hard as a strong kernel recomplitation, while with rpm solutions very easy. And this is just one of many many examples.
