The Paths Tool

The Paths Tool, located at the top-right most part of the Gimp Toolbox, is an advanced selection tool that can also be used for drawing.

Users are able to create selections by placing anchors along the desired selection. After this, “Path” the selection by clicking and dragging on the connecting lines.

In the Paths Options Box, there are three Edit Modes which enable the Design, Edit, and Move paths.

After all of the anchors and paths are created, Create the Selection from a Path or Stroke on the Path. When the user chooses to stroke the path that was created, they will be prompted to choose and consider different stroke options.

This example, show s anchors created one by one. This anchors allow the user to create the paths that are used to select the green pasture. Then, when this is done enclosing the pasture, use the anchors to bend and curve the paths to form to the shape of the desired selection.

Finally, click the option of “Create Selection from Path”. This completed the Path selection process.
